Slash et son groupe refusés au Japon

Le nouveau groupe de l’ex guitariste des Guns’n’Roses, Velvet Revolver, s’est vu contraint d’annuler sa tournée japonaise par les autorités nipponnes, ne voulant pas des ces lascars au Japon.

Velvet Revolver devait se produire dans quatre villes japonaise et n’y mettra finalement pas les pieds. Le passé plutôt chaotique de la plupart de ses membres a poussé les autorités à interdire au groupe d’entrer au Japon.

Le groupe a adressé des excuses à ses fans dans un communiqué : «Nous voulons nous excuser auprès de nos fans au Japon car nous ne pourrons pas donner les concerts prévus. Nous ne comprenons pas pourquoi les autorités ne nous donnent pas les visas, alors qu’on les a eus en 2005 dans le cadre d’une tournée réussie et qui fut une excellente expérience. On adore le Japon et on est impatient de pouvoir y retourner».

Scott Weiland compte écrire son autobiographie

Scott Weiland a indiqué dimanche qu'il avait conclu une entente pour écrire son autobiographie. Toutefois, il se sent un peu dépassé par le fait d'avoir à raconter sa vie, une existence qui est plutôt riche en rebondissements, drames et frasques.

«C'est étrange», a dit le chanteur de Velvet Revolver aux journalistes dans les coulisses du gala des American Music Awards hier. «Tu fais plusieurs disques. Tu écris plusieurs chansons… Et puis tu te diriges dans une avenue bien différente et c'est un peu terrifiant.»

Weiland n'a pas dévoilé le nom de l'éditeur avec qui il a conclu une entente. Il a par contre précisé qu'il compte rédiger ses mémoires en compagnie de David Ritz, qui avait co-écrit les paroles de la chanson «Sexual Healing» de Marvin Gaye. Ritz a notamment participé à l'écriture d'autobiographies de Gaye, Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles et Don Rickles.

Quant à son collègue Slash, ce dernier a aussi co-écrit un bouquin avec Anthony Bozza (Eminem, Tommy Lee). «Fais le grand saut. Une fois parti, tu ne pourras t'arrêter», a dit le guitariste au chanteur pour le motiver.

Scott Weiland arrêté pour conduite avec facultés affaiblies

Le chanteur Scott Weiland, du groupe Velvet Revolver, a de nouveau été arrêté pour conduite avec facultés affaiblies le 21 novembre, vers 18h15. Il a été impliqué dans une collision sur une autoroute de Los Angeles. L'accident n'a causé aucun blessé, rapporte TMZ.

Alors que les agents de la California Highway Patrol tentaient d'en savoir un peu plus sur les événements, ils ont remarqué que Weiland ne semblait pas dans un état normal. Selon le rapport de police, le chanteur a échoué des tests de sobriété et a ensuite refusé de se prêter à des analyses de sang et d'urine.

Il a été arrêté pour avoir conduit sous l'influence d'une drogue. Il a été remis en liberté moyennant le versement d'une caution de 40 000$. Il devra se présenter en cour le 13 décembre.

Weiland denies driving under influence



LOS ANGELES - Scott Weiland was arrested for driving under the influence of a drug after he crashed his car, but his publicist says it was a minor accident and denies the allegations.

The Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver singer, who has a history of drug problems, was driving on a state highway Nov. 21 when he had the accident.

The singer was arrested after an officer noticed he showed "signs of impairment" and failed field sobriety tests, according to a police report obtained by the celebrity site TMZ.com.

Weiland, 40, was taken to the Van Nuys Jail where he refused to take a blood or urine test, according to the police report. He was booked and released on $40,000 bail. His next court appearance was set for Dec. 13.

Weiland's publicist said in a statement that Weiland was involved in a "minor accident," but denies he was driving under the influence.

"Scott was not driving under the influence of a drug, legal or illegal," Kristine Ashton-Magnuson said. "He voluntarily took a breathalyzer test which the defense believes registers well within the legal limit."

"He is anxious to get to court ... and clear this matter up," she said.

The statement doesn't specify whether Weiland denies driving under the influence of drugs or of alcohol.

SCOTT WEILAND Says STONE TEMPLE PILOTS Reunion Is Imminent - Jan. 21, 2008

VELVET REVOLVER frontman Scott Weiland has told MiamiHerald.com that fans should be on the lookout for a reunion of his previous band, STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, in the coming months. The singer made the announcement during an appearance this past Saturday (January 19) at an all-star gala event benefiting the AROD Family Foundation. The event took place at the Ritz Carlton hotel in South Beach, Florida. Hosts included Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez and his wife Cynthia, who founded the non-profit organization to support programs focused on improving quality of life, education and mental health for families in distress.

STONE TEMPLE PILOTS guitarist Dean DeLeo and bassist Robert DeLeo confirmed the band's split in 2003 following the release of the group's greatest-hits package, "Thank You".

"It was time to move on to other things," Dean told Guitar One magazine at the time. "Life and personalities and brotherhood took its course."

"Dean and [drummer] Eric [Kretz] and myself, I think, all feel a sense of sadness, relief, anger, melancholy about it," said Robert. "But to try and go and accomplish something with this band after we've already peaked is a bit cheesy. There's a cheese factor with guys hitting 40 trying to recapture glory.

"There's no way to go but out."

Weiland was expected to appear in a Los Angeles courtroom last Thursday (January 17), where his recent DUI case was to be continued. The singer was charged with driving under the influence of drugs after being pulled over by police in late November.

Duff comments on rumored STP reunion and Sundance Gig

Classic Rock just tracked down Duff McKagan, Velvet Revolver bassist, and quizzed him about VR singer Scott Weiland's recent 'antics'.

Here's what Duff had to say:

On the Sundance Festival:
“I sang It’s So Easy and I Wanna Be Your Dog and then we were panicking a bit over what to play so Matt [Sorum] got up and sang Patience, Matt’s a great singer, he really is. Why wasn’t Scott there? Scott missed his plane, yeah, let’s say that, Scott missed his plane…”

On Stone Temple Pilots re-forming:
“That’s the rumour that I’ve heard too, good for him. You can’t plan ahead in this thing and if you do you’re going to be disappointed. Don’t get me wrong, I love playing live and we love this band, but I don’t have expectations any more. This is a great band and I’m proud to be a part of it, but it doesn’t define me any more.”
