After 22 years, a Long-Lored 1991 Pearl Jam Show is Confirmed
by JOHN REYNOLDS on SEPTEMBER 30, 2013
In 1991, Marcus Pollard had a pretty good job. He booked rock bands at local clubs like Harpo’s and The Town Pump, located in Victoria and Vancouver, B.C., respectively. If you are new to geography, this area is only about 2.5 hours from Seattle. For this very reason, Marcus – and the greater Vancouver area – got to benefit greatly from the huge sounds that came out of Seattle in the late ’80s and early ’90s.
One long-rumored show from September 1991 – yeah, that’s 22 years ago – was at the Town Pump sometime in late September. Playing Harpo’s and The Town Pump in one trip was common for local bands making the trek, and Marcus was instrumental in helping us confirm that two shows like this happened in January 1991 – see the comments in this article - during their early 1991 Mookie Blaylock Tour with Alice in Chains.
Marcus emailed us again and found this cool item which proves there was a show on September 26, 1991 at The Town Pump in Vancouver, WA. The receipt below is what was used to pay the band for their gig and also gives us an attendance figure of 307. Wow, seeing Pearl Jam for $3? Yes, please. If there ever was a TFT Artifactor, this is it.

The 1991 page of the Pearl Jam Concert Chronology has also been updated to include this show.
For more information about the Victoria, BC, concert scene from their “heyday”, Marcus has a Facebook page dedicated to the clubs he used to book: https://www.facebook.com/groups/204657346300791 Go check it out!
