Okay. Remeber when, a long time ago, there was a list floating around of all these possible, potential titles for songs on the new album? Yeah, well. It apparently wasn't as bogus as we first thought. Because at least some of them made it onto the final album.
And one of them was a slow, country-tinged, dirgeful kind of thing called "Rusted Nail," which my sources inform me will be the new album's second single. It doesn't sound like anything Pearl Jam has ever done before, and there isn't any cover art / song info on the copy that I got, but it sounds like (and I'm just guessing here, but it really does sound like him) somehow the band got actor Jim Caviezel to do "backup wails" on the song. It's either him, or else Mike stabbing Stone with a redhot poker, over and over. Because this voice sounds like it's in PAIN.
Here are the lyrics, as best I can make them out. As you can see it's a first-person story, told / sung by Eddie:
